How it works
The Pop Up School is a project managed, bespoke solution to creating temporary field schools in the grounds of existing institutions to increase capacity in line with social distancing guidelines.
The Pop Up School Company are a team of event experts who specialise in creating temporary structures and all the associated infrastructure in very short timeframes. Our team includes layout designers, project managers, structure builders, IT experts, electricians, plumbers and furniture installers.
Creating your Pop Up School solution:
The first step is to define the size of the area you have available for the marquee shell. Our structures range from 5m x 5m all the way up to 120m x 25m. Multiple structures can be joined together to create a structure size and shape suitable to the topography available.
The sides of the structures are easily rolled up should weather permit and are beneficial in their use due to the current recommendations for outdoor fresh air lessons where possible.
We work with each institution to define how many students need to be accommodated and then create internal floorplans of how to best divide up the internal space of the structure to suit the number of different classrooms required and the appropriate amount of space between each learners station to ensure social distancing.
We have a range of internal walling solutions such as exhibition style shell scheme panels which are quickly installed and are very flexible in their configuration.
The next step is to create a furniture hire package appropriate to each of the newly created spaces. We have access to one of the largest furniture hire portfolios in the country and can supply all the elements you will need including the following:
- Chairs
- Tables
- Desks
- Partitions
- Whiteboards
- Projectors
- TV Displays
- Barriers for queuing systems.
- Lockable storage cabinets.
Finally, we design and install an infrastructure solution suitable for the space. We use heating and cooling solutions powered from our quiet running generators to ensure there is no electrical burden on the main school building. We install electrical plug points, out of reach of small hands, around the new space and can create fresh water systems all fed from large water tanks which can be topped up on a scheduled basis as required. Well-presented temporary toilet solutions can also be added to the site as required.
